InRoadsWalgreens relationship with InRoads began in 2001 when we sponsored several students for summer internships in our Market Planning & Research, Information Technology, Purchasing, and Tax departments. In 2005, we expanded our partnership to include 9 internship opportunities at our retail stores in St. Louis, Baltimore and Phoenix. In 2006, we expanded our retail involvement to 25 students. Today, we sponsor nearly 50 students for 4-year internships at our corporate offices, retail stores, WHS and distribution centers. Walgreens was awarded the InRoads Growth Award in 2004 and 2005 for our outstanding commitment to growing diversity in the workplace.
InRoads is the nation's largest non-profit source of salaried corporate internships for high performing African American, Latino, and American Indian college students. Since 1970, InRoads has helped more than 38,000 of these students develop leadership skills and competencies to be successful in careers in business and industry. For the past 10 years, the Princeton Review has consistently named InRoads one of "America's Top 10 Internships."
